Get Inside Movies is a film course for 16-19 year olds to kickstart film industry careers. Students have the opportunity to:

  • Gain invaluable experience working alongside industry professionals
  • Develop practical skills and knowledge by practicing their hands-on filmmaking
  • Explore individual creativity in a supportive and dynamic environment
  • Work as a team to develop, write and produce a short film
  • Complete the NCFE 'Preparing to Work in the Film Industry' qualification

    White Lantern Film has been delivering the Bournemouth BFI Film Academy for eight years. Take a look at some of the brilliant short films made by previous students HERE


    The film training is run over the course of two months with sessions on producing a film, script development and pitching, industry careers, and editing. But the course isn't limited to just that - so why not take a look at our course content?

    £25

    Course Fee

    The BFI fund the course and provide a small production budget. There is a small £25 joining fee for each successful applicant and travel bursaries for students living outside the BCP region.

    Life after the Academy

    If you want to take your career further you could apply for one of the BFI Film Academy Specialist residential programmes, gain ongoing support through the Alumni network which includes ongoing events, festivals, mentors and career advice.

    RESIDENTIAL COURSES

    Students could also apply to one of the BFI Film Academy's seven intensive residential programmes. Courses last between one and two weeks and are designed to develop more specialist filmmaking skills. You will work closely with leading industry professionals who will give you a unique insight into the filmmaking business and guide you along the way.     ALUMNI

    Once you have completed the course, you will become part of the growing BFI Film Academy alumni network with access to events such as BAFTA career talks. You will also have access to the White Lantern Film team who are here to give you advice and support as you progress your film career. You will also join the Bournemouth alumni Facebook group which is updated weekly with opportunities like jobs, short film grant information and other local and national opportunities.

    Academy Labs

    BFI Film Academy Labs events are for 16-25 year olds and take place monthly on Saturdays through Zoom. The events are FREE, but registration with a valid email address is required through Eventbrite. For more information visit the BFI Labs .
